Our Student Council is a really important part of life in St Cronan’s School! Last year, our council helped with the School of Sanctuary project in our school. We even got to go to the big award ceremony in September, where we became the first primary school in Wicklow to be a Champion School of Sanctuary!
The Student Council also had a very tasty job — we were the official tasters when the school was choosing our Hot School Meals provider!
We held elections in October and chose a new Student Council representative from every class from 1st to 6th. When we have meetings, we work in small groups with children of different ages, so everyone gets a chance to share their ideas. In November, we went on an exciting trip to the Dáil as guests of Tánaiste Simon Harris T.D. Some of us might even end up working there some day.

The Student Council wrote the child friendly Bí Cineálta policy. We presented it to all the classes in the school and also to the teachers at a staff meeting. We even contacted a local printer to make a big poster, which is now displayed in the halla.
In January, we handed out reflective armbands to the boys who walk, cycle, or scoot to school to help keep everyone safe on the roads. In February, we take part in World Internet Safety Day.
This year, we are planning something really special — we are going to compose a School Anthem, and the work has already begun!
