Hello everyone and welcome back to the
St. Cronan's Parents Activities Committee (PAC) Newsletter
I would like to start by saying a big "Thank You" to Tracy for her work on this page over the last number of years; she will be continuing to work with the PAC in the role of Treasurer and, no doubt, will be keeping an equally efficient hold on the purse strings !
We kicked off our fundraising efforts this year with a Cake & Plant Sale in the school hall on 30th September which proved to be a great success. We received a wonderful array of cakes and buns, and we raised over €2500 on the day, including our coffee shop and eyebrow threading.
As the event coincided with the enrolment of new pupils for 2011, it was also great to see so many of our future parents stopping by for a cup of coffee and a chat. This really was a fantastic start to the year for us and we extend a huge thanks to all who helped in any way. Well done to all !!
Next up we had the first of our two pre-Christmas Bag Packs in Tesco, Bray on the last weekend in October. Once again, this was a very successful with over €2600 being raised over the course of the 3 days. Many parents turned up to do a shift (or 2 or 3 in some cases !) so again a very big thank you.
Our next bag pack will take place on Thursday November 18th in Dunnes Stores, Cornelscourt. As this is a "one-night only" opportunity we would really like to make sure that all 15 available checkouts are manned at all times during the 6pm-10pm time slot. So, if you haven't already done so, please complete the volunteer form and return to your son's teacher as soon as possible. As always, we are counting on your help and support.
Last year two PAC parents undertook the job of producing Christmas Cards, with individual cards for each class featuring every student's drawing. Although a lot of work was involved this proved to be a huge success. We had really positive feedback, everyone really loved the cards ! This year's order form has been sent home in the boys' schoolbags, so don't forget to return yours by Friday 19th November. Prices will be the same as last year too which has got to be a big bonus.
Christmas Tree Sale
Finally, just before the holidays, on Saturday 11th December, we will be holding our annual Christmas Tree Sale in the school grounds. We have a new supplier this year and the trees will be tip-top quality ! As before, they will cost just €35 and a full range of sizes and shapes will be available this year. We will also have a selection of holly wreaths and swags perfect to brighten up Christmas décor. Delivery will be available - cost €5.
Before the day we will be distributing leaflets advertising the sale. The more helpers we can get for this job, the more areas we can reach. If you would be prepared to deliver a small quantity of leaflets in your own area/estate please let us know. And if you have a little time free on the actual day of the sale we would be delighted to hear from you too.
Phew ! That sounds like a lot doesn't it ? And that's just 2010 !!
As you can see from the above a lot of fundraising work goes on so that we can provide and maintain the excellent facilities our sons enjoy in St. Cronan's. And of course, we could not achieve any of this without the help and support of the wider parent body. So thanks for all your efforts during 2010 and we look forward to your continued support in 2011. Remember - keep an eye on the school website and keep checking the schoolbags for notes and for your chance to volunteer !
In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments or suggestions or would like to raise any issue you can email the Parents Committee through email@example.com or contact any member of the committee. And don't forget we meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 8pm in the school, and everyone is always welcome ! (Last meeting before Christmas is on Tuesday 30th November)
On behalf of the PAC I would like to wish you and your family
a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year !
