Mr Dodd's Farewell

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I wish to say how deeply grateful I am for your overwhelming generosity and support recently. As I leave St. Cronan's after 20 years the thing I will miss most, other than the exuberance and happiness of the boys, is the unity of purpose and mutual respect between the parents and staff. Over the years there have been very few low points or disagreements and no rows! That for me is success. As for our effectiveness in our primary duty of enabling the boys to learn who they are and to accept their strengths and weaknesses, only time will tell if our input as worked.

Just as the conductor may be part of the orchestra without actually making any music, so the school principal can be a little distant from where the real pupil learning is taking place. The heroes in any school are the teachers and the parents. Year on year, we have been so fortunate to have the best of teachers who respect and encourage all our pupils.

The past twenty years have been 'of their time' a stage in the long history of our school. The future direction will now be led by Ms Tierney and I know she will receive the wonderful support afforded to me.
It has been a privilege to have played a small part in your son's life so I wish him every success in school and in life.

Míle buíochas
Vaughan Dodd
