15th April '11
Dear Parents / Guardians,
Who would have thought that some of our pupils would participate in a space project with NASA. Thanks to our resident astronomer Deirdre Kelleghan, Paul B (painting of our moon's Linne crater) from Mrs. Slater's class and Diarmuid M (painting of Saturn's Encleadus moon) had their paintings projected on to the moon's surface as part of Moon Bounce on the evening of April 10th. Earlier in March three others, Ryan J, Lochlann M. and David V. had their stunning pastel drawings up on the NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory site for the world to see.
This past term has been a very busy one indeed. We launched our Celtic Roots CD/DVD (copies are still available) with Donal Lunny, our 5th and 6th class pupils performed with an orchestra in the Basketball Arena in Tallaght as part of the National Children's Choir, and our school football team only lost one of their matches and we secured another Green Flag, our fifth one. On Saturday last our 6th class pupils celebrated their Confirmation in Queen of Peace and Holy Redeemer churches. We have had a musician in residence for week and we also enjoyed the stories of Niall De Búrca, our Story Teller. The Easter Holidays are certainly well deserved.
The main project involving our parents has been our Parent Survey. It has provided us with so much data that it will take time to assess it all. Last week we met with a group of parents to talk through some of the suggestions to see what is feasible and what it not. More updates on this after the holidays.
May I thank all those who have helped our pupils and staff in any way during the past term; parents, PAC and Board of Management and wish all our pupils and their families a happy Easter break.
